The last time Formula 1 raced in Africa
The South African Grand Prix of 1993 was the last Formula 1 world championship race on the continent.

The last Formula 1 race in Africa was the South African Grand Prix in 1993 at Kyalami, near Johannesburg, won by Alain Prost. Before that, Morocco hosted a single world championship race in 1958 at Ain-Diab, Casablanca.
South Africa's long run
The South African Grand Prix joined the world championship in 1962 at East London, then moved to Kyalami in 1967. It was dropped after 1985 amid pressure over apartheid, returned for 1992 and 1993, and has not been held since.
Rwanda's race, expected in 2030 at the earliest, will end a gap of more than three decades.
